An insider has revealed that at least three state attorneys general including California, Ohio and New York have begun antitrust probes into Google. According to the sources, the internet giant has been accused by rivals of supporting its own services over others in its search results.
Google, however, refused to comment on the report. Even the attorneys general of three states couldn’t be reached for comment.
Google’s search advertising was under the microscope by European Commission since last November.
Google rivals who specialize in vertical searches like price comparison websites, which are widely seen as a threat to Google's position as a key gateway to online information, are filing the complaints with regulators.
Google has been seeing a stock plunge. The company's shares were above $600, in the beginning of the year but are now below $500.
